Located at the end of a boulevard with hundred of years old linden trees, Curtea de Arges Monastery is the most important pilgrimage and prayer place in the county of Arges, with the “Assumption of the Virgin” as its dedication day. Founded in the time of voivode Neagoe Basarab, between 1512 and 1517, the monastery is a part of the most famous Romanian legend, “The legend of master Manole”.

Poienari Fortress became one of the main citadels of Basarab rulers in the 14th century. The fortress was abandoned and was in ruins at the end of the century. The fortress was rebuilt and strengthened by Vlad III Dracula in the 15th century. The fortress was again abandoned and left in ruins in the 16th century. Its walls and towers are still standing. Poienari Fortress is a popular tourist destination now;  many visitors climb its 1426 steps to visit the castle.
